It is speculated that it could have been such an event which triggered the decline of the moche during the seventh century. It may have also been a time of decline for the ma and naska cultures too. We cannot be completely sure to what extent the demise of all these cultures was down to climate change or the emergence of more powerful cultures. The wari empire emerged a a successor to the societies described during this episode. Their policy would be to allow local leaders to retain a degree of autonomy despite being subjugated. So this points towards a less brutal conquest than might otherwise be assumed. That very quickly brings the story of the cultures of peru from its great ancient cabin society described in volume
