Are Policymakers More Intuitive About Social Media?
Taylor: I was struck by the overwhelming majority responding to the set of questions on social media companies being justified for removing disruptive users and elected officials. And majority of Americans think social media companies are justified in doing that, which seems to maybe run counter to the mainstream kind of politician tech lash narrative. Do you get the sense that policymakers have a better understanding of public opinion or is that still a real uphill battle? Taylor: It's really tough to keep track of and there are a few academic articles and there's research on this exact problem,. They call it the pacing problem, this issue of government not keeping up with technological change.
