Anastasius: A History of Rome Walking Tour

Justinian will be emperor within a decade and begin the reconquest of the west. We need to fully assess the Mediterranean world before we can see how Justinian will try to change it. If the emperor was so popular and everyone was getting richer, why were there so many riots? The answer suggested by historian Warren Tredgold is that the economic growth helped cause this social unrest. These are questions I hope to address with more detail over the next few episodes.
