Glucose-6 Phosphate Dehydrogenase

Glucose-6 phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency is overwhelmingly the most common inborn error of metabolism across the world. The oxidative phase consists of 3 enzymes that are talked about in detail in the full lesson, but here I'll focus on one of them. It is the first of two enzymes that generate NADPH. We leave glycolysis to make the NADPH, then we come back as a glycolytic intermediate to continue Glycolysis.
