Sally Kohn: I was really struck by this dynamic and the fact that people are very cognizant of the fact that political decisions around development are often made with their budgets in mind. And yet we in the climate planning community really don't think about budgetary and fiscal policy as one of them vulnerabilities that we assess. So our assessment was to take the property parcel maps and the tax maps and overlay that with the sea level rise maps for coastal Massachusetts. We find that something like 12% of the taxes currently, property taxes currently generated by those coastal communities will be at risk of being permanently inundated with six feet.
