Electric cars are a very small and easily fixed part of the climate problem. Road vehicles are about 17 % of global carbon omissions, or carbon equivalent omissions. Name for me a year or an era when you see the global auto fleet being converted primarily to electric. The hard bid is going to be decarbonizing agriculture, de carbonizing industry, steel making, cement making, etera, et cetera.
After a huge false start, electric cars are finally about to flourish. We speak with a technology historian about this all-too-common story, and what it means for innovation everywhere.
