Tom lovejoy, a conservation biologist who coined the term biological diversity, died on december 20 fifth. e o wilson, a pioneering biologist and author who won two pullets or prizes for his writing about science for a general audience, also passed away. We had both tom lovejoy and e O wilson on this very podcast in the past. Back in september of 20 18, i spoke with lovejoy about how deforestation and the impacts of climate change could trigger die back in the amazon and other tropical forests around the world. He argued that we need to make a paradematic shift in how we approach conservation.
