The Hall Building, a Part of the Landscape

The hall was the only heated part of the house, and so the focus for every kind of daily life. If you start too many fires in a low, thatch covered building, you pretty much soon up with labash. The end bays might even have two stories, but access was very restricted. Any windows or openings in the walls would be titchy, tiny because there'd be essentially nothing between the and the north sea as the wind came whistling through.
