David Frum's new book, whiteness tells itself is about the way we narrate our history at our present. The movie Armistad was a movie directed and commissioned by the director Stephen Spielberg who is adopted black children. He had the option of putting translations on the film he chose not to. And when you looked at that opening scene he went, I can't start the novel there. When he chooses to start the novel is in Africa and sink a sleeping in his village with his wife and child.
