The company has a reputation of either acquiring competitors or attempting to mimic them in an effort to stave off competition. The Cambridge Analytica scandal was really more about what the company was trying to do in an attempt to manipulate voters rather than what it was actually doing, which was not having a whole lot of success on that front.
