There's no such thing as too much diuresis. If the next day there are blood pressure creatinine and potassium are fine you keep going. My personal record is 11 liters in one day. I think it's very important to be aggressive because remember every day this patient spends in the hospital is a chance to fall out of bed or get C diff right? So you need to do whatever you can to make that hospitalization as short as possible which means you have to diuretics. You mentioned the two and a half times the dose and Lasix or Furosemide, Bumet and I all seem to have a threshold.
