Many ancient cultures have a myth of the Golden Age. There's a distant memory of what human life was like before humans began to be dominated by thought. Unevolved humans exist even to this day, whose mind is so undeveloped that they haven't really created an ego yet. Their mind is not developed enough to have become an egoic identity.
