The Importance of Pre-Modern Medicine

In the 1950s, all of those places were discovered and there was a big movement to close the arms houses. All of them were closed except for San Francisco, which was renamed with an armed hospital but was in fact originally called the Seventh Fiscal Arms House. Patients lived on these open wards. We did the best we could. The feeling that I never would have thought was possible, relationships and an immense amount of medical experience.
