The Total Restraint of Law

David Frum: I've noticed that when we're hiring people for rent a passage or doing some interviews, there are so many things that I'm not allowed to say. He says it's this atomization of virtue that drives him insane; instead of talking to somebody like a friend you need to treat them like a potential lawsuit. Frum: The only way the state can do that is through these cold objective laws that surround you in every angle. This is what we've given up for the efficacy of law.
