The Westminster Confession, Chapter Two
The Westminster confession, chapter two says that the son it literally says the son is eternally begotten of the father. And so when God created father, human fathers and human sons, he created them to be a picture. He creates a we are a living image in a sense of fatherhood and sonship. The Holy Ghost eternally proceeds from the father and the son. This is what the earlier creeds were talking about when they said that Christ is God of God, light from light. That kind of language is that we have this eternal cause and its eternal effect.
