There has been a movement over the past forty years, with increasing momentum, where churches across the world have been arguing for stewardship. A sexual ethic itself, which is about guarding reproductive powers because they are sacred, seems to me to be the same principle that ought to guide a sense of what the reproductive powers of the earth are. And so if i don't see that i have a similar responsibility to guardte the capacity of the earth to give birth to life, i've completely missed the boat.
