Lordship must have had a major impact over peasants lives and ther idoes. In the anglo saxon period, even in the vale, people lived in quite a scattered way. You see these sort of isolated homesteads that are swallowed up into the open fields,. But then over time, people to create their own space by rearranging where they live - migrating and so on. And lords, then, some of them are absent for long periods, like your beck, you know, your beck abbey. How is that regulated from from france? i supose they got local officials who do boss people around sometimes.
