Are You a Believer in the Promises?

I think there's a really bad trend in the church today to speak of faith in generic terms. It's not faith and faith, but faith in what God has promised. So we could say these people must have had faith in a promise or promises made by God before Moses writings. And if it does, when was this promise given and what is the form in which the promise was given? Those are, I think, actually very good questions. Once you work through the Hebrews 11, I think those questions are very relevant. We're wrestling with the text of scripture. Scripture is commenting on the faith, the eschatological hope that believers had prior to the writing of the Old Testament
