The quest for a proper definition of fascism seems to be never ending. Mussolini himself would often explain what fascism was and only the broadest possible terms. Core to the fascist idea was the belief that a unified centralized and authoritarian state was the best way to bring about change. To cast it as dogma, however the word is understood, means to bind it with a chain which if not immediately sundered will kill all future development.
