The Effects of Hypotension on Blood Flow

DIC is a consumptive coagulopathy, which means we are massively systemically activating and using up the components of the clotting system. It can be caused by sepsis, metastatic cancer, trauma, pancreatitis, amniotic fluid embolus, a couple kind of common causes. A series of experiments in the 1940s and 1950s tried to essentially answer that question by using animal models. And they found that just injecting trypsin resulted in fatal circulatory collapse.
