Can We Really Pray for the Dead?
Can we in fact defend using New Testament teaching that, yeah, we are supposed to pray for the dead? I think there's a few places I would look. The parable of Lazarus and the rich man, sometimes called Lazarus and divis in Luke 16. We see the rich man Lazarus is described as being in Hades and torment. There's no such chasm between the bosom of Abraham and earth. So it's possible for them to intercede. Like there's some sort of spiritual awareness between Hades and this place of perfect peace with Abraham.
