The Goths' Ssack of Rome
Gothic general Sados attacked Alaric and the Goths outside Ravenna. Fett up and convinced that Anorius was acting in bad faith, Alaric headed for Rome once more for a third time. This time around, the city didn't buy him off, and, starving, the city opened its gates to the Goths on August 24th, 410. For the first time in 800 years, the city of Rome was being sacked. The Goths looted the city for three days but did so remarkably peacefully.
