The History of Jeans

There have been paintings discovered from the 1650s where people are wearing blue cloth sort of fixed in with white. For the first 107 years, they called them waist overalls. A very famous dirty celebrity in the 19th century was known as 'Dirty Dick' He refused to wash or clean for the rest of his life and lived in this place in London. And he became really famous for being dirty and never washing. We had a fact in one of our books that half of the world's population were in jeans at any one time. The first successful transatlantic flight, which happened in 1919, was made by two guys from Manchester.
