The Death of Richard Speck

After Richard Speck's death in 1991, his brain was preserved for scientific research while the rest of his body was cremated. Scientists studying it noticed an abnormality in the hippocampus and medial temporal lobe area involved in memory formation. They decided to send the brain to a doctor at Harvard who was the foremost expert on the hippocampus in the world. The scientists stopped all work on the specimen so they would not damage it. Their secretary placed the brain in a room with other packages for the courier to pick up. Except that when the courier came, the packages, including the brain, had vanished. If that was not what the thief was after, I'm sure it was quite a shock. So
