How to Diagnose a Frozen Shoulder
Frozen shoulders are a passion of mine, I see a lot of patients with frozen shoulders. 80 years on we're still in a bit of a mystery as to what's a frozen shoulder is. You can establish a diagnosis of frozen shoulder when you've got an equal restriction of active and passive external rotation. If it's more pain than stiff, based on the correct study, the French Canadian study, what we tend to do is just try and settle the pain down. Within a week start physiotherapy exercises and mobilizations when in the patient's pain tolerance.
