The Queen's Role in the Royal Family
Over seas as at home, the queen's role is primarily symbolic itis a very restricted and closely defined r. The royal marriages act states that the princess cannot marry a divorcee, except by permission of the monarch. And so margaret begs her sister to overrule church and state and let her wed the man she loves. Not only is he divorced and 16 years her senior, but heis a commoner too. But increasingly royal intrigue becomes catnok for newspapers and fodder for public opinion.
