A study looked at people who underwent a colonoscopy. Researchers found that the duration did not affect the memory of how painful the procedure was. The peak intensity of the pain, even though it was only for like two or three minutes, That is by ending the procedure with a lower pain intensity, the end, made them recall the experience more favorably.
In this episode, I talk about the Peak-End Rule and why it's holding us back. I talk about using mindfulness to challenge our memories and find clarity in the process.
