The Difference Between IJ and Femoral in Practice
Femoral is an area of higher bioburden, but not as much for the BSI endpoint. So that also plays a role in this recommendation for trying to avoid the femoral site. It's supported more for patients who are high BMI, so that's something for us to consider and then in catheter in place for more than five days.
