The Myth of English
It is funny that especially to when it comes to your describing how English itself has changed so much. I remember learning when I was in taking a medieval English class that English used to be laughed at as like the mongrel tongue, because it borrowed so much from other languages. So why do we like to categorize ourselves and have another category? None of those linguistic forms are inherently superior in theory to a non-linguistic form. They are all languages and symbolic forms of symbolic systems that allow us to communicate.
