The Importance of Animal Language
I think that language is not one thing, also not in the case of humans. How you use language as a human really determines the meaning of what you say. There are many different ways in which non-human animals use language and they can be species specific or multi-species. In certain language games humans and other animals both contribute to the meaning that is created. That research makes the whole idea of language so much more lively and interesting and rich.
