Is Open Airway Better Than Intubation?

A lot of times it's dictated by the surgery. For pediatric cases, those are pretty much 100 in my situ. So for me with kids, I tend to just have an intubated case. But something that I would consider doing open airway is someone that will tolerate me starting an IV. Just like a 16 year old who's scared of needles in the mouth but can do,. you know, will let me do an IV start or a super anxious adult where they just need some sedation no matter what happens.
