Gabeckli Tepe, a World Heritage Site
Gabeckli Tepe, where this scene took place more than 10,000 years ago, is one of the most spectacular archaeological sites in the world. People lived around the hill for thousands of years afterward. It wasn't until the 1990s that a German archaeologist named Klaus Schmitt started to take a detailed look at the site. What he discovered at Gebecli Tepe has rewritten our understanding of prehistory.
