The Capidocians and the Father and Son of Arius and Cebelianism
Theologians of the fourth century presented themselves as steering a course between Arius and Cebelianism. The idea was to concede a real difference in the persons, albeit that they remain unified by a single divine will. Opponents accused those who took up this view of effectively affirming three gods where there should be only one. Eunomius proposed that a name will reveal the essence or nature of the thing that is named.
