Is It Just Oil Versus Renewables?
The theory is that as long as you're getting a positive output, then eventually you can wean yourself off of fossil fuels. The current global average for fossil fuels right now is about 20 out for one in. And so you need fossil fuels to make the trucks, mine the stuff for batteries, for solar and wind. We don't know how to create a new paradigm around how we live on this energy system. A gigafammon is defined as at least 1 billion people who would starve to death if they didn't have hydro power.
