Evergrand's Debt Market Is Taking a Hit
Evergrand's shares have been on a sustained decline over the past few months, and they're already down 80 % this year. Bonds that were trading near par back in may are now trading at close to 30 cents on the dollar. The chinese government has taken a hard line on leverage in the property development sector. This fear of a default could also spread to the other indebted property developers.
