Jensalki's arrival signalled something more subtle. Amazon's tastes were changing. They wanted shows that could speak to the middle of america, speak to the kind of person you think of as the average amazon customer. This new sensibility was accompanied by bigger investments. The company would spend about five billion on prime video in 20 18, eight billion in 20 19, and an astounding 11 billion in 20 20.
