Then a Fire Erupted in Our Building.
The walls in our building were very thin, and the apartments were in bad shape over all. Suddenly i got scared that something was wrong in our building. I asked my girl friend if i could just find out who was in front of our door. She agreed. There was a man downstairs. He told me in a weird mixture of dutch and english that he was worried about a friend of his that lived inOur building. The sound of his manic laughter was so loud that even my girl friend, who was sitting upright in the bed, could hear it. Immediately, the hair on the back of my neck stood up. We are king at each other, terrified.
