Are You Using Quantum Mechanics?

You can actually talk about electricity an magnetism without quantum mechanics. It was developed before quantum mechanics. We have a classical theory of electricity and magnetism that explains how electrons pull in each other. That was just before we understood that this field was quantum. What that means is that it just can't have any arbitrary value. But it's like chopped up into discreet bits. And so ripples in this electromagnetic field are, for example, the photon,.
