Daniel Jose Elder's Half Resurrection Blues is about a half-dead man who has to do the dirty work for the Council of the Dead. He was rejected by three agents with an offer on the table from Tor, but it can be very good to be rejected sometimes because that just means you haven't found the right person yet. "I don't think I went to my first con until 2011 or 12," he says. The sequel Midnight Taxi is coming out in January.
