How to Improve Science Lessons in Second Grade Classrooms
A few months ago, our curriculum designers had a hypothesis by watching videos of our classrooms. In 1,000 classrooms, we tested what would happen if after 10 days of lessons, we would pull the textbook back and not have an open book. We found that with statistical significance, pupils gain an average around 8% on understanding that content area when they don't have it in class. So now we now apply that to other science lessons of a similar ilk.
