The Battle of Jutland
The battlecruisers had been moved from scap of flow to Rosseth earlier in the war. This would give them some time for exercises with the entire fleet without diminishing Admiral Beatty's command. The 5th battle squadron under Rear Admiral Hugh Evan Thomas was under the command of Admiral Beatty during Jutland. When they encountered the German high seas fleet, their task was to run away from the enemy at top speed and then turn away from oncoming German ships. But this led to confusion as each ship executed the order but did an about face when it came to maintaining order. At least two or three battleships were hit by heavy fire within a short period of time before both sides
