The Challenges of Being a Woman in Astrophysics

Astrophysics is a field that doesn't have the same gender and balance as hite. Astronomy observations, there are many more women but younger cohorts are getting to be like 50%. But theory is a slightly different situation; it's still probably 20% female theorists. My particular end of the siness, which is cosmology, this early universe stuff, it's even worse. It attracts a particular kind of personality. And the culture is very particular. I was fortunate because of my career path being somewhat unusual - things had worked out the way they did. For me, doing science is bigger than just writing my papers.
