The Rise of Physician Assistants
There's a trade off here. You either pay with higher prices or you pay with shortages. Half of the doctors I see aren't MDs, and I find that they actually enjoy caring for patients more than MDs do. They're in this middle ground, I think, between high-end nurses and GPs. And even on the specialist side, I see a number of specialists who are not MDs at all. It's really amazing how well the market works.
