i love the idea of these plays as being a kind of time machine. You're always sort of held safely inside the shakespearian bubble, which will enable you to make these kind of temporalo neys. It's even impossible for us to think our way back to that pre romantic, pre enlightenment moment. Most people in the world are more like that pre modern perspective - there is a natural law, there is a god. I would say if we want to recapture that point of view, al we have to do is go down to the street and talk to a couple of people who haven't been to university.
