Californians for Good Governance Opposes AB 2098
Californians for good governance opposes AB 2098 because it can't achieve its stated goals without violating the Constitution. The first amendment does not allow broad content-based restrictions on speech, even if that speech is false or compelling. Among the constitutional problems with this bill would be the chilling effect it would have on speech. It would cause conscientious doctors to censor themselves. We don't need this bill because there's no misinformation crisis. There's a crisis of institutional credibility and censorship will not rebuild that trust.
