Planning Reforms in the UK
Government announced plans for radical reforms to the planning system. It proposed designating zones for development, making it more difficult for local people to oppose individual applications. The government has gone very quiet on the proposals since then and the reforms are yet to emerge into law. But let's go back to basics and ask Simon Ricketts to explain the mechanics of planning. In the UK that means you can't do certain things without the approval of the local authority subject to certain rights of appeal. So when we talk about the planning system, that's basically what we're talking about.
