What Happens When Property Is Forfeited?

The first priority is to get the property back to the victims. But if the case is like a drug case or another case where there are no identifiable victims, the money becomes the government's property. It goes into a law enforcement fund called the assets forfeiture fund and then is appropriated out of that to agencies that have a request for money for training, for equipment and so forth.
