Conservation of the Casawary Birds

A female Casawary's lay large, beautiful eggs that typically range in color from pastel to lime green. After they do, the birds abandon the clutch and it's up to the mail birds to incubate the eggs and care for the chicks after they hatch. An organization called the International Union for Conservation of Nature lists all three species as vulnerable or near threatened. There may be less than a thousand Casawaries left in the wild.
