I was firmly entrenched in like the SST, Southern California punk rock culture and whatnot. You knew that you could exist outside the system as well. What interested me when I was a kid back in Humboldt,. there was once going back to that theater and film department. It was around 77. And they talk about it. And some punk student goes up to knock him off of his perch after he did Bobby Deerfield with Al Pacino. He's like, hey, man, look, you make all these films and stuff. But you're working big stars. So what if I'm an amazing career? What am I going to make 12, 13 films?
