Edward Bernays created the sociological fund committee at age 21. He raised money from people like John Rockefeller and the Vanderbilts in order to put on the play damaged goods. Damaged goods was a hit and it inspired Bernays to launch a series of other plays aimed at exposing other Utra aspects of society.
